The Rick Swan Trail System contains close to 10 miles of forested trails on 850 acres of land owned by the University of Maine. The trails can be used for hiking, mountain biking, trail running and snow shoeing. The trails range from narrow hiking trails to grassy roads and are well marked with trail numbers and maps located throughout the area.
I sampled several of the trails during today's hike and only saw one other person. I was impressed by the trail system and the views of Perch Pond. Here is a map
of my hike.

|Many trail intersections are numbered and have maps, making navigation easy. Note the gnome hanging from the tree to the left side of the picture. There are gnomes throughout the system, although I'm not sure why.|
|Some leaves were falling.|
