Avalon Village Walking Trails (Hampden)
Last week I explored the hiking trails behind the Edythe Dyer Memorial Library but at that time didn't realize the trail system extended past the Avalon Village building on Foxglove Drive. Today I revisited the area with my son and we discovered the trail system continues along the Penobscot River and provides access to the river at the entrance of a small cove.
The trail along the river is well worn and as it cuts inland is marked with orange flagging tape. The highlight of the trip for us was the very steep descent down to the shoreline. Here is a map of our hike.
