Bradley Public Reserved Land (Bradley)

I hadn't planned on hiking in the Bradley Public Reserved Land, but a small white car was tailgating me as I headed to Sunkhaze Wildlife Refuge, so I decided to turn onto a dirt road to let him pass.  The road, which turned out to be Kingsbury Road, had an inviting sign posted at its entrance stating "Public Reserved Lands" with an arrow.  Equally inviting was a sign stating "No Motorized Vehicles Except Snowmobiles on this Trail without Landowner Permission."  I was sold.

Bradley Public Reserved Land consists of 9,277 acres of forests, wetlands, and peatlands.  The preserve begins at approximately 1.25 miles on the Kingsbury Road.  I mostly hiked along the road, exploring a few side "trails" which were grown-over logging roads or snowmobile trails.  Other than a couple driving a side-by-side ATV, I had the preserve to myself, which was amazing considering it was a beautiful Sunday afternoon on Labor Day weekend.

I hiked a total of 10 miles.  Here is a map of my hike.  This would be a good place to mountain bike.

Most of my hike was along Kingsbury Road.

Much of the preserve is wetlands.

The preserve starts 1.25 miles in on Kingsbury Road

There were abundant dragonflies...

and frogs...

and berries!

The sign that started it all.
