Bangor Water Works Road and attempt at Woodchuck Hill (Eddington)
I attempted to hike Woodchuck Hill in Eddington this morning, accessing what I thought would be the summit trail from the Bangor Water Works Road. The road itself is a pleasant walk. At 1.4 miles an orange blazed trail leaves the road. I thought this trail might lead to the summit of Woodchuck Hill, but instead it makes a short 0.6 mile loop back into the road. The trail itself was very well marked though poorly maintained.
I continued walking the remainder of the road until reaching the second gate. As I walked back I noticed a blue marked trail bisecting the roadway (the trail is roughly 2 miles from the first gate). I decided to save the blue trail for another day.
Here is a map of my 5.4 mile hike.
