ITS 82/84 Snowmobile Trails (Hermon)

I hiked two miles on a local snowmobile trail in Hermon today, starting from the back of an industrial park and within a few minutes feeling a sense of remoteness despite being close to civilization.  We had received 12" of snow three days ago, and although much had already melted in the ensuing warmer days, most of the trail was still covered in snow.

I startled an owl 50 yards into the hike and later startled a grouse.  There was no sign anyone had been in the area since the snow, but the trail was covered throughout with a variety of animal tracks.

Here is a map of my hike.  I traveled in each direction until reaching deep vernal ponds.
