Acadia National Park - Day Mountain Trail and Unnamed Trail off Schooner Head Road
The weather turned out to be much better than predicted today, with only around an inch of snow falling in the morning, stopping around an hour before I arrived at Acadia. I hiked two trails - an unmarked trail off Schooner Head Road and Day Mountain. Here is a map of both of my hikes today. Unmarked Trail Driving down Schooner Head Road I noticed a small gravel parking lot with no signage off the east side of the road. I parked and noticed a well worn trail leading into the woods. I checked the onX Hunt app to make sure that I was on park property, and once confirmed, I followed the trail into the woods. I enjoy exploring new trails, especially ones that are not well known, or in this case, abandoned. The trail led to the shoreline and then to an old, abandoned carriage-road-like driveway leading to the foundation of a house. A set of very fresh fox tracks ran the length of the trail.
